Near the old nail holes every 16 or so hammer 1 1 4 roofing nails into the new piece of siding to hold it in place.

Starting at one end of the damaged piece push the end of the zip siding removal tool up under the siding until you feel it hook the bottom lip. Slide the zip tool along the bottom edge to release the vinyl siding from the piece below it. To lock the final piece in place use a zip tool. Be sure to leave a bit of space between the nail heads and the siding so the vinyl can expand and contract as necessary during temperature fluctuations.

If the piece of siding that you re replacing doesn t extend all the way from one corner of the wall to the other cut the replacement piece 2 inches longer than the bare area on the wall. Using the zip tool lock the piece of siding above the new piece down. Remove a piece of the nailing strip and on the back to allow for expansion and contraction.
