Remove Foundation Stains From Carpet

In some cases ammonia or a solvent won t be strong enough to dissolve your favorite 24 hour foundation. If the stain is new use a cloth or piece of absorbent paper to blot up the foundation. For each specific makeup stain there is a specific solution you can mix when tackling how to remove makeup stains. Rinse the carpet by applying warm water without soaking the carpet.

After applying hydrogen peroxide cover the stain with a thick towel to block the light. Use this to remove any traces of your soapy mixture. If the stain was removed do not proceed to the next step apply hydrogen peroxide mix and let it stand for 30 minutes. Apply clear waterproof makeup remover or a white cream based makeup remover to the stain and let it sit for 10 minutes.

Vacuum or blot up the excess. Take care not to scrub or rub the carpeting here as this could result in the stain setting further into the fibers. Upon discovering the makeup stain it s best to act as soon as possible. Never rub the stain as this could make it larger and push the foundation deeper into the carpet fibres.

Dampen a clean microfiber cloth or paper towel in plain water. Getting foundation out of carpet needs to start by removing as much excess make up as possible. Keep dabbing at the stain until there s no more foundation in the carpet. If you see any excess makeup on the surface of the carpet carefully scoop it up with a cloth or plastic spoon.

If the foundation stain on the carpet cannot be dissolved in water using the method described above try to use a universal stain removing agent to remove the make up from the carpet. Blot the product off of the carpet and use the ammonia blend dry cleaning solvent or vodka to remove any residual pigment. Use a carpet stain remover.
